Could someone give me a general over view of SK Yard in Buffalo? When was it built, who built it, transfers of ownership, etc. Also, why the name "SK?"

The Erie owned SK and gave it the name SK as a telegraph call sign, short for "Stock" from the nearby East Buffalo Stock Yards. The yard office on the property today was at one time used for a passenger station by the E-L. You can still see the asphalt apron where the passengers boared their trains alongside the building.

I knew that the yard office was once a passenger station... wasn't it the joint NKP/EL station once EL vacated the ex-DLW terminal downtown?

Did NKP ever use SK Yard for freight connections?
