I was sorry to hear of the damage sustained by at least 2 passenger cars stored on a M&E Railway siding in an industrial park in East Hanover, east of Whippany. I see that former PRR parlor observation car MARTHA WASHINGTON and former CB&Q 10 roomette 6 double bedroom sleeper A. PHILIP RANDOLPH (originally SILVER MEADOW) were substantially damaged by fires that may have been set by vagrants who broke into the cars.
I also heard that there was a large fire department and EMS response to the scene, probably because they were uncertain if this fire involved loaded tank cars of propane or other combustible material.

Although the media coverage says these two cars were owned by the Whippany Railway Museum, I thought they were owned either by M&E Railway or by one or more of the railway's investors/officers.
If there is any good news to be found here, then it must be that no other equipment was damaged and no one was injured.
