I am new to this forum, so I hope I have posted this press-release appropriately:
Calling all train enthusiasts! Join us as we commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Ghost Town and Calico Railroad!
Here is a list of events spanning the four day celebration:
- A recreation of the original Golden Spike Ceremony will take place on January 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Engine 41 will be renamed, and we are honored to have Marion Knott and Ed Arnold with us that day.
- Del Oro Pacific Modular Railroad will be set up in Boardwalk Ballroom. It is one of the largest and oldest “G” scale modular layouts in the United States. A historic photo display will be featured in Boardwalk Ballroom as well.
- Tours of Ghost Town and Calico Railroad Roundhouse and the private car the “Edna” are available for $5.00. This tour will take you backstage to see where Knott’s repairs and stores their locomotives and passenger cars!
- For $50.00 per person, enjoy a unique dining experience on the Durango. The three course meal lasts one hour and takes riders on a leisurely trip back to the glory days of the railroad. Your choice of two seating times, at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm on either Friday, January 13 or Saturday, January 14. There are only 14 available seats for each dinner – 14 at 6:00 pm, and 14 at 8:00 pm. For reservations, call (714) 220-5298. Does not include park admission.
Note: If Friday and Saturday sell out, seatings will become available for Sunday.
- Model train exhibit, photo display and daytime train rides are included with park admission.
