Hard to believe - or maybe it's NOT hard to believe - but it was 50 years ago today that they loaded the last boat at Charlotte Docks. A fascinating operation which was the last survivor of several coal transloading operations along Lake Ontario. At last there is a fair amount of photographic documentation of it.
I was only 8 years old. Wish I was born ten years earlier.
I know a woman who grew up on Cherry Road. She and her friends used to hop the trains from behind Burley Road to Dock Junction. Claims they never got caught.
