This train leaves Penn Station at 4:07 PM on a similar schedule to the Friday Cannonball (Train #16):
5:39 PM - Westhampton
5:59 PM - Southampton
6:07 PM - Bridgehampton
6:17 PM - East Hampton
6:38 PM - Montauk
The noticeable difference is faster running time - arriving Montauk ten minutes earlier than the
Friday Cannonball - not having to make double stops at intermediate stations with a shorter consist...

Spent a little bit of time out in the sun to catch Train 16 (24), The Cannonball. Was able to film the train from slightly east of where the double track ends and single track begins. The train was running a little bit late. There were other delays on the Montauk branch from an earlier train that ended up getting into Montauk around 30 minutes late. 16 was one of several trains that made the long trek from NYC to Montauk on a sunny 80 degree Memorial Day Friday. It was the longest though. Engine 517 was today's leader with 504 taking up the rear.

LC (or any Moderator that can make the change) - This is the topic that I created for the 2024 Cannonball Season...

Recent 2024 posts are still being placed in the 2023 Cannonball Season topic pinned up above in the LIRR Forum
listings - This topic should contain those 2024 posts as a replacement for the Summer of 2024...

Can we swap the 2023 Cannonball Season topic straight up for the 2024 Cannonball Season topic? MACTRAXX

C P, Yellow Crossing Predictor sign. Warns engineer to make sure gates are down if he has to stop or slow down within crossing gate predictor circuit. Special Instruction MTK 1103-p explains it better then me.

Crossing Predictor Sign over in Sayville; is this the same concept as there is no station/cross street at the Y Interlocking westbound location?
