Maybe NYA isn't making a fortune out here in Suffolk, on the PJ and Montauk, but their presence is important. There is always the chance that a growth spurt could happen. A lot of less developed areas lie along the Brookhaven stretch of the Montauk. If any type of growth, I don't mean heavy industry... it wouldn't happen... but who knows what... if any growth did occur there, you would not want to cut off the possibility. Any growth should not be turned away. The engineers and conductors are already qualified out here... why give it back?

Not making a fortune out in Suffok? Are you crazy? You got Coastal on the Suffok border (who are going to be recieving a lot more cars on a regular basis), Gershow, Prima when it's in season, that guy in Pineaire who is getting serviced twice a day.

Pretty soon that C&D place in Lindenhurst is going to start up on the Central.

tush... my message was a response to the prior message which stated that the NYA would be better off without the Port Jeff and Montauk lines east of Jamaica... this did not mention the Main Line, out to Southold... that action must be the bread and butter for the company.

There's rumors going around now that apparently they want to create another job out of Hicksville to service the Hicksville team track as well as the Port Jeff line and the Montauk (via the Central). Talks have it when the ASC is thrown into 156/159 they'll be the power destined to that location. Spring is the forecasted time frame they are talking about. Again this is just what I heard out of the rumor mill.

They always talk about starting a job out of Hicksville, will it happen, with the reliability of the power, its doubtful.

As for the Montauk, and Port Jeff, until something comes along, the branches are more of a burden then anything. The crews can always keep up the qualifications if necessary, but the business that is there, is more of a burden then anything. I love the RS-30, but look at it from a business sense, it turns out to be a 12 hour day for a 2 or 3 man crew, plus fuel, and the wear and tear on the power, especially if they go double ended and, for what spotting all of what, 4 cars?

Most of the revenue generating costumer base is indeed on the mainline. Most of it is East of Ronkonkoma. Future growth will probably be here also. There was two jobs actually started out of Hicksville this past fall, but that only lasted a short time. That team yard isn't setup correctly to start a job up and store cars especialy with active costumers in there. Also another job would have to make a setout and pickup cars. Any suggestions?
