Just found this short note in the Nashua Telegraph from Oct 1899:

"Two new engines among the largest that have been here excited the admiration of the railroad men at the Junction this morning. Their numbers were 777 and 769."

Any idea what locomotives these were?

As of October 1899, B&M 769 and 777 were brand-new 4-6-0s built by Alco's Schenectady works the previous month. Engine 769 was renumbered 2042 and 777 became 2043 in 1911, and they were scrapped in 1929 and 1927 respectively.
