I recently purchased an interesting postcard showing the first LS&MS passenger train into Allegan, Michigan in 1869. This would have been on the Kalamazoo, Allegan & Grand Rapids Railroad. The locomotive would appear to be an 0-4-4T or 2-4-4T, but I can't find a reference to one in the NYCSHS Steam Locomotives, Vol. 2. I've Googled quite a few locomotives of this type on the Internet, but none have the angled cylinders shown in the photo. I would appreciate it if anyone can identify it.

I think I may have answered my own question. While looking for a photo of another NYC tank engine, I ran across this photo of LS&MS 190 "Reindeer", a 4-2-4T engine. The boiler, cab and tender details are very similar. It was one of a pair, the other being LS&MS 191 “Gazelle”. Both were rebuilt but the books don’t indicate to what type. The 191 was rebuilt in 1862. I’m guessing that it was rebuilt into a 2-4-4T which could be the locomotive on the postcard. The smaller drivers of the 2-4-4T would account for the downward cant of the cylinders.
