I'm just trying to facilitate some clarified communication here. No agendas. We are all fallible creatures after all. :( (Except, of course, for that guy with the GOLDEN ARM! )

Sorry about that steam buddy, all three of us got twisted. You should have said I WORK FOR A SHORT LINE DIPSTICK, at the start, i would have got a chuckle out of it, again sorry about the mess.

(im not complaining here, its just how life is for me)
I can answer you questions, im divorced with two girls, the state and my ex-wife rape my paycheck, hence my thirst for the green. Im in a cycle now where im trying to beat the system. I get reviewed every two years, so when my child support gets raised i get more greedy to make up for it. I know its bound to plateau sooner or later which will leave me two choices, spend two years making less money, or just deal with it. I work hard to make money to give my kids the best life possible sence my ex doesnt seem to care. The checks she gets goes twards her rent, car, fast food dinners. The money she makes from her job goes twards beer and clothes for herself and what not. Its a sh*tty game i know. Last time i got reviewed when i showed my ex's attorney my paycheck and my tax info she said "JESUS... you must work hard ....and alot" i was proud to say "yes.. yes i do!!" (my attorney became a judge and when her attorney called me she said "dont be afraid ill be fair with you, dont waste your money on hiring an attorney if you havent yet" thats why i handed her my tax and paycheck stub. After she crunched the numbers it went up about to where i thought it was gonna be at, i wasnt a sucker and just signed away, i still had the option to not sign and go hire my own attorney after she did the numbers. so thats why i like to work alot, to please my kids and keep them happy. They know there pops works hard which is a good thing. Hope they look up at me like i do to my dad.

The other reason for me liking things just the way they are without the 10 hour rule is because the UP where i work has..... well this is why. (too much typing today already)

When i hired on in 97 the UP was a mess with all the SP traffic, here in Wyoming around Green River it was crazy....grid lock with tons and tons of trains getting dogcaught. So at the time i hired out i was getting groomed on how to get really good at dogcatching which left me with a huge bank roll in my pocket after every tour of duty. I made $550 a week at railserve (salary) and at 75% pay as a brakeman at the UP, somedays making $650+ for 12 hrs dogcatching. It was great, every time the phone rang to come to work it was like hitting a jackpot at Vegas. As long as i didnt catch a yard job i knew there was hundred dollar bills out there for the picking.
Ive seen guys tie ups on some of those longer trips (cheyenne to green river) making $550 a trip or so, somewhere close to that for 10 to 12 hrs work. Traffic here is better than it was in 97, still heavy, but it doesnt melt down as much as it did then. And now at 100% as a hoghead ive made close to a $1000 for 12 hrs out dogcatching and seen guys make $1200+ on an extremely good day. Depending on the hog and conductor whether there fast or not, what rule you were called under, and where the trains are dead at, and the amount of traffic moving a hoghead can bring it a cool $800 in under 8hrs, a basic day (8hrs pay) for each train caught. Holiday slow downs/tie downs, derailments, grid lock, Devil Train with a crappy slow crew out there tieing up the mainline, all those things puts money in my pocket. There are no over the road jobs here in the thirteenth district, dogcatching, local, work trains, and the RS switch job, so when the phone rings to come to work there may be a pots of gold along the right-of-way with your name on it, dont want anything that can slow the flow. Working in GR is like being a dentist or a doctor, most but not all trains i get on pays me like every patient does for a doctor. Ever try to see a doctor or dentist on a friday and they tell you he's not in today? Same kinda thinking , made my money, time to lay off and go play. Nose to the grind stone till ya get sick of it, then bail off and go have some fun.

Now some guys dont even do that, (Yoda voice)--->"super greedy... they are". Im not that bad. Some guys cant stand to lay off because they cant stop thinking theres 100 dollar bills blowing around out there needing picked up.

Understand whats going threw my head now? best i can do to explain it. Some days arent always so "green"... , but a couple really good days at the start of a half is always nice, then greed starts to set in.

I saw that i killed this topic with my last post. I was thinking i could scan a copy of my tie up if anyone thought i might be fibbing about my pay, so i looked up how to get an image up from my computer, and its way to hard for me. Im into some killer cash this half, it ends tonight at midnight, if someone could help me out ill do it. If i can work tonight it might be my best half so far. Maybe i could get it scanned to a disk, and then E-mail it and have someone else put it to an image website, and then post it on here.

Mr. UP Engineer,
Should we post our YTD earnings for all to see?

I wasnt trying to come across as being cheezy about it jg, i guess it did lol. I wasnt bragging by anymeans. I just thought maybe someone looking to hire on might not think they could have a chance to make that much was all.

I could post my 80 percent switchmans extra board guarantee check, but it's so light it would probably float off the screen.

I thought i might be able to beat my old record when i was in selective service as a conductor pilot for this half but it fell short. Those seven hundered dollar days i went out of the zone four times. 130 miles basic day plus another basic day for every train dogcaught out of the zone for a total of 520 miles. On the part 06/15 CL B9 for $204.59 that is my extra board days pay for being a good boy and staying marked up the whole half. Just the hogheads get that, free day pay i guess you could call it.

Nothing to say except that drinks are on you obviously and that ASENP is a regularly called job here. If I get it, I'll write something on the paperwork for you.

Does not surprise me the you had to dogcatch the OGGR. Where did that die, Granger?

Glad to see nothing has changed on the Evanston Sub.

HOLLY CRAP!!!!!!

I only see 3/4 of that if I work a day off, pick up a shift , and get money time (Over time)

And that's US Dollars! (No Queen on them -- just dead presidents.)

Man, I might just hire out again myself!

When I applied with UP they basically told us not to have families. Something like "women will know how much you make, but you won't have time for em" I'm independent enough I can't see myself getting married ever anyway.

I live on a farm, so I'm used to getting up before 6am and going to bed after 10pm so I would think 8 hours off would be good and 10 would be a god send. Plus I'm guessing you might get a random day off now and then, which is more than I get now.

I have a friend who is a trucker and he claims wal-mart wants to allow truckers to drive for 16 hours straight, now that sounds dangerous.

That's about on par with what our Conductor's list pays for two weeks if you like to answer the phone. The engineer's list can make an even bigger killing due to the higher rate but it rarely heats up like the Conductor's board.

And if you have any trouble finding the time to spend all that cash, don't worry: your ex, with the help of her lawyer, will take care of that! :-D
