Norfolk Southern has a single-track branch in Greenville, SC that splits from the Washington-Atlanta main line near downtown and runs directly south, parallel to Augusta Road near downtown, and then through southern Greenville County and perhaps on to Greenwood, SC.
Does anyone have any background on this branch; was it always a Southern Railway line? Further, is there a general schedule for the branch? I hear train horns around 10am but never see to see them.
Thank you.
