It says to post SD70ACe-related stuff here, so that's what I'm doing--although what I'm posting is neither related to the previous posts nor is really a question.
I've come across many references to the lower-clearance SD70ACe used in Australia, and there seems to be a lot of confusion about how clearance has actually been reduced. I've found many references to supposedly lower radiators, but I could never find that difference.
I just finished measuring some direct SD70ACe/lc side views--specifically, the heights to the walkway, bottom of underframe and bottom of fuel tank--and all these values check out at about 2 inches under what I've measured (or the nominal values) for the standard SD70ACe. There is also a modified secondary suspension, with fewer rubber spacers, and a notably smaller gap between the trucks and underframe.
It would therefore appear that the SD70ACe/lc shares all the same above-walkway dimensions with the standard SD70ACe and merely rides a couple of inches lower to the rail.
