I notice that there are 2 bulbs in headlights on these. Did they light both or was one a backup?
Thanks
Lou

From all the pix I've seen, 6000 thru 6005 had single-beam (one-bulb) headlights. All subsequent deliveries (6006-6033)had dual sealed-beam headlights. Both bulbs were used, making for more visibility.

Much like steam engines early diesels had a seperate bulb and reflector. Later they were upgraded to sealed beams, using the original opening. Some were side by side, others stacked. Today its called retrofitting. Alco RS-2s & 3s are prime examples.
