Dont' know why, but I've always been a fan of the unusual look of this engine.
Anyone know how many still survive, and who has them?

BNSF has a large fleet of unmodified GP30's left over from the ATSF fleet. They look pretty much like stock GP30s on the outside, but didn't they receive 645 engines in the early 80s (as Chessie GP30s did at the same time)? And hasn't BNSF retired those now? They still have their ex-BN GP39E/M/Vs, many of which were GP30s.
