Has anyone started out as a locomotive electrician apprentice? What can I expect in the first couple of months?

More than likely, especially since BNSF uses the folicle test for new hires. That way goes a lot further back than urine.

As apprentice expect to be doing lots of Traction motors and Generator brushes
If Conductors are in charge, why are they promoted to be Engineer???

As well as blowing out a lot of main and auxiliary generators plus dynamic brake grids. Have your ear plugs, dust mask and safety goggles at the ready.
