In an effort to stimulate some discussion here in the Fallen Trolley and Interurban Lines forum, I'd like to invite everyone to share links to their favorite trolley and interurban sites. Links to individual photos are welcome as well.

A few ground rules:

1. Give proper credit to the website!

2. Double check your link after posting! (Things in cyberspace change rapidly-if a link disappearss after a week or a month, at least we'll have had a chance to view what you were linking to. If the link never worked...well, there wasn't much sense in posting it now, was there? )

I'll start out with a link to what is probably one of the most (if not THE MOST) comprehensive site on the web when it comes to trolleys and interurbans, Dave's Electric Railroads.

UPDATE: JAN. 1, 2007As I warned, sites DO move! The links to Dave's Electric Railroads have been corrected.

Most of you who frequent this forum are aware of my northwest PA/western NY origins. Courtesy of Dave's Electric Railroads, here are some of the lines from New York State: (Chautauqua Traction, Jamestown Street Railway and the Jamestown, Westfield & North Western):

A map of Chautauqua Lake and surrounding railroads and trolley lines:

From Pennsylvania, the Warren Street Railway and the Warren & Jamestown, also courtesy of Dave's Electric Railroads:

Finally, also from Dave's Electric Railroads, two photos from the Corry and Columbus Street Railway (Misidentified as "Correy" in the caption) and a reminder as to why I don't miss Pennsylvania winters:

EDIT #2 July 20, 2008 The Jamestown Trolley site has also moved, links corrected...

From Jamestown, NY, the website for the restoration of the last remaining Jamestown Street Railway car, trolley #93:

From the Jamestown Trolley site, links to:

Chautauqua Traction photos:

Jamestown Street railway photos:

I invite you to share your favorite links as well.

I just stumbled across this one-check out:

Great electric and shortline photos. You can scroll down and use either the alphabetic list or use the "regional Railroads" to sort by state with trolley lines coming under a separate heading for each state.

I was recently steered to this website from a post at the Upstate New York Trolleys Yahoo Group. Some rare and vintage images here!

The Historical Society of Washington has a searchable database of photos (a good number that are available online). Many don't come up under "trolley" or "streetcar" searches as they are background to street scenes or buildings. There's actually quite alot there though.

Another Washington Resource are the streetcar photos of R. Hill:

Two I shouldn't have left off:

Library of Congress Digital Collection (searchable): http://www.loc.gov/library/libarch-digital.html

ATU Local 689 Youtube Site. Has a "ATU 689 History" Playlist. Some are pretty union specific, but others are of more general transit interest. Saw a few factual errors, but still pretty interesting. Have a short video on formation of union, the exact fare dispute (Assault on Transit Operators), a series on desegregation, Capital Transit video, and some re-posts from LOC including 2 of Washington, DC streetcars 1903/4 and four from the Westinghouse streetcar motor factor in Pittsburgh from the same time period.

Also another historic film by Charles Keevil of the Chicago South Shore & South Bend (though not a fallen flag).
