Ryan,

In the steam locomotive section, you've missed #779, the last NKP Berkshire, now on display in Lincoln Park, Lima, Ohio.

More information:

http://www.cityhall.lima.oh.us/dept/pub ... detail.asp

#763 was recently purchased (reported January 3rd) by the Ohio Central and is supposed be moved from Roanoke, VA (Virginia Transportation Museum) to the OC's shop at Morgan Run for restoration and future operation. More information:

In fact, if you haven't already, you may want to check out the website of the Nickel Plate Road Historical & Technical Society at:

http://www.nkphts.org

A couple of others I was reminded of since I first posted my reply...

#44, Class P, 4-6-0, on display at Steamtown National Historic Site, Scranton, PA

#170, Class L-1a, 4-6-4 on display at the Museum of Transportation,
St. Louis, MO.

Ryan,

The Knox & Kane RS-36 was supposed to have been scrapped this Summer, according to several internet reports. I have not verified this in person, however.

My employer leased an EMD SW-1 from ILSX.It's frame number is 6213-2 which would give it the serial number of 13706. Making it NKP-106,built in 12-1951.Independent Locomotive Service is the leaser. Christmas came early. Joe.

Ryan, there is no ILSX number on it,however the headlight number boards read 790.Builders plate is missing, but I checked both sides of the frame numbers. Joe

Let me know if there's any I've missed!

FYI: http://www.nkphts.org/preservation/index.html

It's a good source of information, although not completely up to date (e.g. #870).

a few notes, at the end of steam a few 4-6-4's went to the Louisiana and Eastern, the owner was trying to get the line up and running, was in New York but died there. All scrapped.

There was another 2-8-2 in a scrap yard around Chicago and was noted in the NKPHS mag, but later it too was scrapped.

The 0-6-0 was an Lake Erie and Western and was on display at the Ft Wayne Museum of History till the FWRHS picked it up and working on restoring it.

765 was numbered 767 while on display in Lawton Park as 767 was in poorer shape and was scrapped. 767 was the official 1st engine over the Fort Wayne elevated NKP project, NKP was at ground level and auto traffic backups made the call to elevate.

765 actually has parts from other engines on it now scrapped so its kinda a multi-engine, one of the siderods is stamped 761 I think.

the "tool car" for 765 is I believe either a baggage or mail car that found its way to MOW service and I dont think on your list, during its original restoration had that MOW paintup on it. I'll see if I can track data down on it.
I think the FWRHS also has a caboose.

You have a nice list of equipment together. I'm impressed that you have the recent move of the 451 to FWRHS.

There is a slight typo on your website...the 170 being a 4-8-4...instead of a 4-6-4.

Three hudsons went to the Louisiana Eastern...173-175.

There is a business car in New Bremen, OH. It is used by Crown Control (the Dicke family) as a guest house. IIRC, it is one of the most modern ones...perhaps #2 or #4. Crown Control created the battery powered forklift. If you ever are looking to purchase a few, they might put you up in the car. Btw, New Bremen is on the Minster Branch. I think it is located here...inside the 100' long building:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 9&t=h&z=19

The tool car for the 765 has no ties to the NKP...it was a US Army kitchen car that spent its career in mothballs. The auxiliary tender, IIRC, came from the L&N.

It is covered on your website as well as in the posts...there other equipment consists of the Wabash caboose and 0-6-0...NKP 141 which started off life as a 4-wheel bobber on the LE&W...the RPO...and the new caboose. The crane was from the Virginian. In the past, one of the 100 series coaches was owned and operated by Tom (& Liz) Stevens whom frequently ran the 765 throughout the 1980s and early 1990s.
