Discussion about RDC's, "doodlebugs," gas-electrics, etc.

I'd thought I'd start some discussion on Edwards Railcars. I rode one of the Edwards Rail Cars on the West Virginia Central this summer. Nice car - chain driven with a John Deere Diesel. The car was nice and bumpy on the jointed rail, but smoothed out once we hit welded rail.

Besides the West Virginia Central, who else uses one? I believe there's one in Jersey, and one in Florida ... any others?

I read in the latest issue of Rumorspace (railpace) that the West Virginia Central is looking to replace its Edwards car with some coaches to add capacity. The coaches would have to be shorter than standard ones, as there are some real tight curves on the line.

If true, there may be one less railcar floating around. While the railcar is nice, I think some open coaches would be better suited to the line. But that's my opinion.
