-Greetings,Any know how many trains RJ Corman is running on the Ebensburg branch now? Has traffic increased? I noticed last year the trackage in the Munster area was reballasted and some ties replaced. anyone see any work done further North?I'm assuming most of the traffic is south bound and coal. Were is this coal originating from? whats with the covered hoppers I see spotted West of Cresson? Are there Agricultural customers being served on the line somewhere?-Mark

"whats with the covered hoppers I see spotted West of Cresson?"

Don't know with certainty, but two possibilities are:

1) rock salt - NS brings salt from the big mine served by the Genesee & Wyoming, turns it over to R. J. Corman at Keating. RJC brings it to Cresson for local distribution to municipal and township rooad departments

2) ammonium nitrate - the favorite explosive in area strip mines is a diesel oil/ammonium nitrate mixture. Ammonium nitrate is shipped in covered hopper cars.

As I understand it, both of those are active in the Clearfield cluster.
