If somebody looks for Alco soundfiles around the world then look at this page:
http://alcoworld.railfan.net/sound.htm

Some more sounds especially from Greece and a very interesting one of a loco in very bad condition (A-470 (MLW MX627) with 502 to Thessaloniki departing Larissa (1.2 MB, 1:14 min, mono) is here to find:

Quite a few sounds here from all over the world. These are good sounds, not excessive horn noise, just real ALCO music!

Update! Sorry the page I hosted these on it not available at this time.

Does anyone have sound for the RS-1's and 3's? The first time I heard an RS-1, I had to laugh because it reminded me of a three stooges movie. It was a belated attempt at sci-fi and they seemed to have borrowed the sound of an RS-1 winding up for the sound of a ray gun. Yeah that first sound clip was in the Pentrex trilogy on ALCO, and the start of the show was LA&L's lone RS-1

A little bit later in this trilogy Pentrex shows Connecticut Central´s S4 (i believe) together with their RS1 - you can hardly note a diffence between them in sound because both locos are fitted with the 539 turbo engine.
But heavy blue smoke coming out of their stacks let my think that they were not in best condition at that time....

Diesel Dinosaur Delights. That was the name of the video. The first one in the trilogy. Yeah that blue smoke wasnt a good sign

Wess,

We have some sound recordings of our ALCO RS-1, Eastman Kodak Company #9, that I did on our Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum website. There are also sounds from some of our other engines and equipment up there as well.

Here is the direct link:

I have a lot more unedited that I hope to someday get up on the site when time allows. I also have much higher quality versions of the MP3s that are on the site now if needed.

Regards,
Chris
