Looking for five C-425 or C-430 and one C-420 locomotives in good shape that are road ready and for sale. Equivalant MLW are acceptable as well. Please PM me

Good luck.

There are no C-430s available. Maybe one C-425. Maybe a C-420 or two. (I could think of maybe 3 or 4 counting some that need work.) Best bet would be some C-424s, IF you can find them. (Probably best bet for those, ex-CP's or Minnesota Commercial.) Especially ready-to-run.

There ought to be a few M420s still kicking around... those would probably be your best bet at this point.

The Corydon has fallen on hard times and might be persuaded to sell some of thier fleet. They have two C424 that have sat idle for some time.

They might sell the C420 as well.

Are they still using the RS11M they bought from Maine Coast a few years ago?

They prefer the RS36 900, but the 850 C420 and the RS11M 367 are runnable.

They have two runnable bastardized GTW CS-9 ex alcos too

They are down to one customer..... Truck competition...

They might get some of the traffic back though.

Might want to talk to Ed Bowers/VLIX as well.
He has all manner of things he saves.

All the Alcos (pure) on the LNAC are for sale.
They have 2 C424's
1-C420
1-RS-26
1-RS-11m

They lost a major customer (Ford) recently which provided 85% of the business. The Railroad is also for sale.

Glad to hear that the old 367 is still alive and well, even if they don't use it much. I never did get to see it in action, although I photographed it numerous times at the Rockland (Maine) roundhouse. It served Maine Coast RR very well.

And might I add, that RS36 is a damn gem. It is cherry! Probably one of the better units available today.

Wow, nine responses after I saw this thing earlier today (before I had to run to work)!

I, too, was going to comment on Paul's wish list, aren't there only three C-430s left in existence? The former GB&W unit is at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay as a static display (cracked crankshaft did it in, wasn't it?) and the Sesquehana has (had?) two. (Think they were sold/leased to another NE railroad).

NRE has some of the Minnesota Commercial's ALCo.s, or so I've read. At least the 424s and one of the RS18u units. Don't know what else of the Commerical's they would have, or what the MNNR still has that would be up for sale (and I doubt they're giving up the RS27s).

I would follow Alcochaser's advice and get a hold of Mr. Bowers... no doubt he has some "toys" he'd be willing to let you guys play with. :-D

Good luck on your search.

I guess my quest in searching for good Alco power for this railroad was a bit premature. It is amazing what a person can uncover about an operation in less than twenty four hours. Biggest factor is they almost didnt meet payroll two weeks ago and I also have learned that they are behind over $1m in car hire payments, and do not have any credit line with any railway suppliers I can not afford to associate or be connected with an operation of this kind. I am sorry if I have waisted anybody's time on this board. Thank you all very much for your replies.
