Like Pullman Standard's R46 cars (in New York)?

Had a few issues that I remember. One was excessive wheel wear that was corrected? Another was speed governed to 40 mph due to braking issues. Cars were specified capable of 65 mph and intended to run at 50 mph.

There’s a test train of 1400s running up and down the entire Orange Line today.

Edit: it went into the shop just before 1PM.

Pedantic, but I wish the digital signs said the more colloquial “Mass Ave” vs “MA Avenue”

Frankly I think the static old printed signs are just fine. It’s not like this route changes frequently. Kind of overkill.

The idea behind the digital signs is that you always know where the train is on the line. Using a full-blown LCD display is overkill for that, though; I've seen the same thing implemented with a printed map and LEDs marking the stations and direction of travel.

In case you didn't already know... you can follow the new cars as they debut today with my app...
https://sites.harvard.edu/~wuensch/T/subway-map.html

The trick is to hit the button "Show a detailed table" under the map, and then click the header on the column "Lead Car No." to sort them in order. Look for anything with 14XX and that's the new Orange Line cars.

Also of note - 3900 & 3904 are signed for Gov't Center and inbound at Reservoir right now. I bet they are planning on making some show of both new types at North Station - or something like that.
