Hello,
On this beautiful winter (even though it is April!) morning, the SLQ westbound 393 departed Island Pond at 0745 with the following:

GP40-3 3803
RM-1 803
QG GP40-2W 3014
7 centerbeam flats
2 bulkhead flats
10 tank cars
13 propane cars
1 covered hopper
2 hi-cube boxcars

That's 35 cars total, including 2 loads and 33 empties. Apparently SLR/SLQ didn't run Monday night so ran extras last night.
Have a great day,
Fritz

Hello,
Today's SLQ westbound 393 crested the hill at Summit, Vermont at 0755 with the following:

GP40-2 3007
GP40-2 3035
2 centerbeam flats
6 propane cars
5 tank cars
4 hi-cube boxcars
1 covered hopper

That's 18 cars total, including 4 loads and 14 empties.

In addition to the very short train, it was being pulled by the two most-mismatched locomotives on the SLR roster: the palest of pale orange 3007 and the richest of deep orange 3035. Thankfully, it was cloudy and I had not thoughts of photographing the train!
Have a great weekend,
Fritz

CN9634,
There were quite a few of those cement hoppers last summer and fall, but I haven't seen any since mid-February. I hope they come back, as they added considerably to train lengths. There were also a few CO2 tank cars for awhile but I haven't seen them for awhile either.
Best,
Fritz

Me too, I think the biz went back to CP-ST routing as I see those cars moving that routing more and more...

Hello,
On this beautiful (that is, sunny and soon to be warm) late winter morning, the SLQ westbound 393 departed Island Pond at 0825 with the following:

GP40-3 3805
GP40-2 3008
RM-1 805
GP40-3 3804
7 centerbeam flats
1 bulkhead flat
2 boxcars
5 hi-cube boxcars
3 tank cars
9 propane cars

That's 27 cars total, including 3 loads and 24 empties. Due to the short train, only the 3806 and 3008 were being used.
Have a great day,
Fritz

Hello,
On yet another drizzly morning, the SLQ westbound 393 departed Island Pond at 0745 with the following:

GP40 3004
RM-1 805
GP40-3 3804
15 centerbeam flats
4 bulkhead flats
1 covered hopper
9 cement hoppers
2 boxcars
18 hi-cube boxcars
6 tank cars
15 propane cars

That's 70 cars total, including 4 loads and 66 empties. Nice long train with the first cement hoppers that I have seen in several months (maybe that is a sign of spring here in northern New England where we are still waiting for the daffodils to bloom).
Have a good weekend,
Fritz

A third LPG bulk transload plant has been under construction for the past several months at Lewiston Jct. near
the tail of the wye on the site of the former precast concrete fabricator. It apparently has become operational
this past week with the tracks full of tank cars and a trackmobile to shuffle them around. The only identification
I could see was a small sign on one of the access driveways with " Irving " on it. On another note NEPW has been
quiet this spring with very little rail activity at Mechanic Falls and sporadic cars at Rodman Road in Auburn.
The South Paris site gets switched most week days and has recently seen several spurts of traffic with 394
filling the sidings by the Paris ball fields with boxcars at night. 394 set of another long string of mostly CN
boxes early Saturday morning.

Hello,
On a morning with none of the forecasted now-say (we don't say that 4-letter word this time of year), today's SLQ westbound 393 departed Island Pond at 0804 with the following:

GP40-2 3035
RM-1 804
GP40-3 3803
7 centerbeam flats
9 tank cars
8 propane cars
2 hi-cube boxcars

That's 26 cars total, including 4 loads and 22 empties.

As soon as the train cleared, ECI started working on the crossing replacements in Island Pond.
Have a great day,

Hello,
In a steady rain, today's SLQ westbound 393 departed Island Pond at 0823 with the following:

GP40-3 3806
RM-1 805
GP40-3 3804
29 centerbeam flats
1 covered hopper
5 boxcars
3 hi-cube boxcars
22 propane cars
11 tank cars

That's 71 cars total, including 8 loads and 63 empties.

Interesting were the 23 TTZX centerbeam flats, which I am guessing came out of storage on Pan Am somewhere. Out of curiosity, when moving cars coming out of storage, how is the railroad paid for that movement?
Have a great weekend,
Fritz
