Blue Line experiencing delays of up to 15 minutes due to Boston Fire Department on scene. Services will end at Government Center.

Do trains each have to have a train number assigned manually before beginning their route from a terminal in order to show up on the map in MBTA.COM or were there indeed no inbound Blue Line trains anywhere on the line between Orient Hts and Bowdoin at 4:38 PM today (March 15)? (Wonderland to Orient Hts. out of service.)

Here is an interesting one I received through email ...
“Blue Line trains may stand at stations while a wire car inspects the overhead catenary system between Airport and Wonderland. This is done periodically during extreme temperatures.

One reason it's taking so long is that they have no choice BUT to install obsolete equipment, to maintain compatibility with all the other obsolete signaling equipment used on the Red Line. IIRC they're supposed to be completely replacing the signal system in a few years to enable closer headways with the new, larger fleet, but that's not happening this year.

Shuttle buses replacing Green Line D branch service between Riverside and Newton Highlands due to a derailed train at Riverside. Expect delays as buses are dispatched.
Looks like there was a Derailment on the Green Line this morning.

Riverside derailment of 8/7/19 was likely operator error per MBTA - apparently motorman had no signal authority to proceed over a switch that was in the process of being thrown. IMO, perhaps it's an obvious statement but these operator error events on the Green Line happen too frequently. Fortunately there was only one passenger on board at that early hour.

They're gonna throw the operator under the bus  and if this is correct, justifiably. Meanwhile they still haven't 'splained even unofficially what caused the big red line derailment fiasco.

Last I heard they were looking at the possibility of failure of the train's truck or wheel assembly. Most likely this would require metallurgical examination e.g. looking for evidence of metal fatigue etc.
