Hello,
NHCR cleared all the boxcars and covered hoppers off the North Stratford Line at least a couple of years ago, and, as far as I can tell, all the boxcars and tank cars off the Groveton Line a couple of years ago as well. They have been storing cars sporadically since then.
Best,
Fritz

Hello,
Due to all the snow that fell in Quebec, today's SLQ westbound 393 arrived in Island Pond at 0900 this morning with the following:

GP40-2 3035
QG SD40U 6904
GP40-2 3008
3 boxcars
2 hi-cube boxcars
19 propane cars
1 tank car
1 covered hopper
2 centerbeam flats

That's 28 cars total, all empties from Maine. After MOW cleared onto a yard track, they pulled onto the siding and pulled 8 empties from RCP before parking the train on the siding. Apparently the eastbound 394 didn't arrive in Island Pond until around 0300, so I don't know when the westbound crew will come on duty.

MOW was very busy clearing the yard of snow. Also missing from Island Pond was the SLR plow X23. Apparently, it went east on last night's 394, but it also looked like they had plowed west to the border in Norton, so I am not quite sure what is going on or if the plow will be returning west soon.
Best,
Fritz

Thanks for the tip. I dont think anything has been stored south of Groveton since they borrowed 52 from PAR to pull the last chunk of tanks from Whitefield, about two years ago this time.

Plow did go east yesterday, they didn't reach LJ until 11 am. Trains did not run last night.

Got into IP with just enough time to spare for a pit stop this morning, as 393 started out of town just as I was looking to park at the pedestrian bridge. Train stretched through the yard, and power was all the way up at Maple Street. My clue should have been the company rig sitting to do the roll by inspection.

Looped around them, and got them crossing over VT 114 at 901 with 3 units pulling hard to get a solid 82 cars up the grade.

Also noted,no other cars sitting in IP yard or siding in Wenlock. Also, the Cantilever crossing signal in Ferdinand was replaced at some point recently with standard crossbucks.

For those interested in real monsters, 394 out of Southwark Yard today was 6 units, and 153 cars.

Super late trains again, meet was after 7am in Berlin. Photos also appear to show 394 pulling an empty Presby hopper from the Issacson siding.

Lots of tonnage coming through Southwark and Richmond, doesn't seem like they have enough power to move it fast enough. Good problem to have, instead of a lack of traffic.

Hello,
Today's SLQ westbound 393 departed Island Pond roughly "on schedule" and in light snow at 0935 with the following:

QG GP40-2W 3014
RM-1 803
GP40-3 3803
QG SD40U 6904
7 centerbeam flats
1 boxcar
18 propane cars
4 tank cars

That's 30 cars total, including 1 load and 29 empties.

Due to the backlog of cars coming off of CN (presumably due to major ice last week), I have heard rumors that SLR may be running extras tonight, but I don't know for sure.
Best,
Fritz

Hell,
As forecast, the SLR/SLQ did run an extra 393/394 last night ... today's SLQ westbound 393 didn't depart Island Pond until 1040 (on duty at 1000 because didn't arrive in the Pond until almost midnight) with the following:

GP40 3004
GP40-3 3805
RM-1 804
GP40-2 3047
5 centerbeam flats
6 hi-cube boxcars
3 boxcars
3 tank cars
19 propane cars

That's 36 cars total, including 1 load and 35 empties.
Have a great day,
Fritz

Hello,
Casey, thanks for the info. Today's SLQ westbound 393 departed Island Pond at 0820 (back on schedule!) with the following:

QG GP40-2W
GP40-2 3008
7 centerbeam flats
15 hi-cube boxcars
4 boxcars
1 tank car
15 propane cars

That's 42 cars total, including 3 loads and 39 empties.

It looked like they had plowed the line west from Island Pond to Norton but not sure if they used the plow or a regulator. Does anyone know if the plow is still in Maine? Either way I am sure the crews are thankful though!
Have a good weekend,
Fritz
