Based on my Saturday visit to HJ, they might want to make a better effort to move along on phase 1. Just a single bucket loader, and a long stretch of fill that is still WAY below grade, leading to a makeshift "crossing" still well short of the wye itself.

The fill is nothing new, that's the former eastbound main of the "wide iron." the grade crossing has also been there for a good long while, and is used for cabbing crews to/from Hoosick Jct. All they've really managed to do is some minor grading east of the Sewer Plant Xing and clearing the brush off the embankment between the present main and the former eastbound main.

The brush was all I noticed, when I checked myself after my visit. From the size of some of the trains VRS brings down, that interchange is woefully small and cramped. I don't get how they'd swap cars without fouling somewhere, especially if an actual power meet occurred.
