-The two restored PRR E8s #'s 5711 & 5809 were being prepped this afternoon at the Juniata Terminal shops for the upcoming Toys For Tots excursion train. I was told this will be for the "Capitol Region Toys For Tots Train" out of Binghamton.

I thought Mr Levin was not going to upgrade his E units with PTC, and that these were out of the mainline business this past summer

John,
The E8s have indeed not been upgraded with PTC. I believe this was the first outing since the PTC mandate. Because of this, the two E's and consist were picked up by, and trailed a pair of Norfolk Southern SD60s and moved about in that fashion for the duration of the excursion.

Kinda lame if you ask me, but that's now the name of the game.

Hope this was not the problem. Note: It appears that thee Crescent #20 & 19 were at CLT station at same time with mechanical problems wonder if that had anything to do with the problems 3 trains at CLT will not work until new CLT station is built.

About one week ago, private car CANNON BALL, long stored at Washington Union Station, departed track 30 in a shop equipment move to Wilmington DE, and then was delivered to Delaware Car Company's shop. CANNON BALL will be stored there at DCC, pending some planned truck work. The car has 12 roller bearings that require periodic field lubrication, and the plan is to replace them with 12 new NFL roller bearings. After that, the car will probably relocate to a new home storage location, as R. Anderson and S. Gardner have frowned on Amtrak earning revenue from long term storage of private cars at Washington Union Station.

At about the same time, NS office car MARCO POLO, an even longer resident of Washington Union Station, departed Amtrak's Ivy City S&I facility with a fresh air brake COT&S and inspection, in a special equipment move across the Potomac River to Norfolk Southern's Van Dorn Street Yard in Alexandria.

Bob Roberts wrote:From today’s #80 I just passed a very long NS Executive Train (e units, sightseer lounge and all) headed South in Spencer NC. Since it was empty I assume it was headed down to Atlanta for the shareholders annual meeting.
It left Altoona the other day, Facebook rumors said it was headed to Augusta for the Masters Tournament.

Former N&W office car LAMBERTS POINT traveled from CHI to NYP on train 50(13).

The car was recently purchased by the individual from New Freedom PA who owns private cars COLONIAL CRAFTS and SALISBURY BEACH. I understand he plans to rename the LAMBERTS POINT as CONEWAGO CREEK.

Amtrak has imposed a “temporary” (of unknown duration) ban on parking private cars and switching them on/off thru trains at WAS. One result is the cancellation of the DOVER HARBOR’s entire schedule of spring and early summer trips. Lots of sad people at the Washington DC Chapter NRHS.

Tadman wrote:Is that Dearing trip also scrubbed? They planned a last and final trip WAS-SAV in a few months.
Although DEARING cancelled three advertised public trips in the March thru July 2019 time frame, due to operating limitations imposed by Amtrak, the car is currently underway on a cross-country circle trip that may be their farewell to Amtrak operations. They are looking to relocate from long term storage at Amtrak’s Savannah station to a friendly shortline in the southeastern states. Perhaps a post-Anderson/Gardner Amtrak may once again be more hospitable to private varnish.

I've gotten a few emails about the Dearing "farewell". I think their intention may be to park; a terrible shame. They do have some openings on their last trip last I heard.
