Interesting timing given everything that is in the mix right now for intermodal competition.

Over on You Tube Maine Train Chaser has a number of very recent video chases of Job1/2 including several on the elusive CMQ Canadian Sherbrooke sub. Most of the trackage videoed on the Moosehead and Sherbrooke has welded rail, fresh ballast, no weeds and includes a bilingual defect detector. They must have dumped a ton of money in the track and it shows. Most of it looks better then CN's 60 mph railroad !

The ever industrious Maine Train Chaser has two You Tube videos dated 8/27/17 chasing Job1/ Job 2, both trains close to 80-90 cars. Job 2 has two well cars head out with two containers a piece double stacked, couldn't read the reporting marks though. Hopefully the sales department is diversifying the traffic mix. It appears most trains have those log flats, tank cars, high cube box cars and spine cars and that is it.

The log cars are for Pleasant River in Jackman, that's why you see them on most trains. The tanks are generally either acid cars from GAC, or propane. The rest is mostly wood products, with the occasional covered hoppers and containers. Unfortunately the reality of railroading in this region is that while you can try and diversify your traffic base as much as possible, the bulk of it is still going to be related to the forest industry.

Are the log cars being loaded or unloaded at Jackman? I assume the later and if so where are they headed? Thanks for any info.

There are two groups being sent to Pleasant River right now; BAR/MMA racks that are loaded at Millinocket, and EMRY racks that are loaded at Siberia (east end of Brownville Jct). Pleasant River unloads them, and Job 2 takes them back empty on the rear of their train. Pleasant River does load centerbeams with lumber, although usually only a couple of cars a day.

You Tuber RailFanCam 3071 has posted a you tube video of a CMQ welded rail train operating between NMJ and Millinocket titled..." CMQ job 277 extra welded rail train chase 9/03/2017"... Again it amazes me how well groomed the CMQ property looks. Millinocket yard is freshly surfaced and there are stretches of the Bangor sub with welded rail and new ballast. So used to looking at MMA videos over the years and what a broken down property it was compared to the professional looking CMQ. They definitely get an A for effort in bringing the road back from the dead.

Job 1 is now going on at 16:00 in Brownville Junction, Job 2 at 20:00 in Farnham, Job 420 at 14:00 in Brownville Junction, and the Brownville switcher at 04:00. Canadian crew at Jackman planned to go on at 22:00, give or take.

Thank you for those updates. The later call times are to facilitate track work, correct?

Correct, they're doing some track work on the Moosehead Sub until mid-November. After that, the schedule may or may not change back to the old one.

Hi 690,
About what times are #1 and # 2 running now? Thanks in advance for any updates you can give me.
