Wasn't 29(8) the one with the engine fire? It is still rolling (10hr 41min late departing Cleveland).
30 was held at PGH to allow the conductor to change trains.

NO! You're the one saying that.

I'm observing that they need sufficient crews and equipment to provide reliable service.
And if they can't afford to do that, then maybe they need to put folks on buses to they can get to their destinations at least close to the schedule.....although the folks in the 5 PVs might have issue with that!

I could be mistaken, but somewhere I learned that that Train (and maybe Engine as well) are based at Cumberland. If everything goes well, then crews can be turned on continuous time at Wash and Pgh (saving $$$ on expensive hotels). For all we know, the "board was dry" at Cumberland, and there was no alternative other than to hold 30 (7) for 29 (8) at Pgh.

So far as assigning sufficient crews to Cumberland to cover such emergencies, the BLET Local Chairman at Cumberland, will love you for your suggestion Mr. Ohio. But Extra Board assignments come with guaranteed pay and benefits - and that translates into the "secret ingredient" of which Amtrak is perpetually short.

Can we get back to delays? Reporting aboard MARC 406. Can confirm full track swapping at GROVE. Expect delays around GROVE on the NEC.
102 and BRIDGE track work tye and ballast replacement
102 and 101 fencing

Food for thought ------ Routes that have only one RT a day or even worse 3 times per week have to have a much higher ratio of extra board crew members ? The Silvers with 3 and 3 RTs for part may be able to have a lower cost ? Then the trains from Richmond to WASH do not need as much of a ratio of extra board crews. Then the NEC probably does not reduce the ratio much more ? But still delays do not exhaust crew resources as often ?.

Anyone know the crew situations between CVS and IND for the Cardinal route. ?

No other similar delays on the BUF Corridor.

63/69 combo started due to NYP track work. They both will take hits in ALB for switching and adding 42s to go west north.

Heads up:

We are travelling EB on 4 soon. We were warned by text message it will be up to two hours late in KS, MO, IA, and IL throughout the summer, as there is construction on the historic Santa Fe from Albuquerque to Lamy and from Raton to La Junta.

WB, 3 will be late in NM, AZ and CA.

#29 (14th) westbound Capitol Limited Dp. PGH 7'00" late; and

#50 (14th) westbound cardinal Dp. CIN 7'00" late.
#29 left WAS late due to swapping out a coach and sleeper, that had HVAC problems, with cars that had come in on #30
#51's P42 stopped loading - CSX power added at Ronceverte, VA
