Back when things got rolling with good track, such as the 4R project, and new power, did one crew run the whole Mechanicville, to Portland run? If not, where did they trade? Ayer seems logical, since Portland and Fitchburg seniority districts join there. Did New Hampshire Div. get some action for running over the Brook, and on through N. Chelmsford, to the Lowell Branch?

Yes, Mechanicville-Portland was run with a single crew following the Dustin-era track improvements. MEPO/POME crews had previously changed at Fitchburg.

I recall the single crew run preceded MEPO/POME. NE-87/NE-84 ran that way in the mid-70s, no?

Ayer had no facilities for crew changes. BM-7/NY-20 swapped crews where they met.
