Would anyone be able to tell me the location of the former roundhouse in Thomas, WV, as well as the last year it was in active use as a helper station?
Helper operations shifted to Elkins in late 1951/early 1952. My 1960's track map shows the Thomas coaling station but not the roundhouse but from the way things are configured, it looks like the roundhouse was railroad west (south) of the coaling station. You might google Thomas to see if there are any 1950's vintage aerials of the area. If so, the roundhouse should be there.
