On Oct. 11 Amtrak #306 came into Chicago with collision damage on its 2nd-3rd-4th coaches. It had crossed over from TK 1 to TK 2 at Bridgeport to run around M336. The damaged cars had made contact with the last car in M336's train.
What is not clear is whether the switch at Bridgeport moved as #306 was passing through or whether the engineer on M336 released the brakes, allowing the slack to run out and the rear of his train to strike #306. Any comments???

So although the Amtrak engineer had been given permission to use the crossover, didn't he (she?) think that the clearance between the last car of the freight and their train looked a bit tight, even if they wouldn't have been able to stop in time to do anything about it?
