On the original R1-9 rollsign, The displays have the route on top and the line on bottom. On the "GG B'klynQueens" display, it has different font and has the odd lines under "klyn" and "ueens". Why the different formatting? Also, why is there so many blank displays on the top and bottom? Does anyone know how to post a photo on here?

You can use the "[img]URL[/img] so long as the image is 800px or less. OR you could just hyperlink the images. You can also upload images from your hard drive using the attachments feature, but those also have to be 800px or less, IIRC.

It looks like a simple style choice by Transit. The B and Q stand out as borough initials (even though bronx and brooklyn share the B), and the underlining just makes the following text balance out with the larger font size of the B and Q.
