Does anyone know the last time a passenger train ran on the Newtown Square Branch and what the stops were? Thanks

According to the website "Phila. & Del. Co. RR", the last regular passenger train ran in 1908.

This is an interesting website by a model railroader who models the line as it was.

Try and find a copy of the PRRT&HS Philadelphia Chapter magazine "The High Line" that covered that branch. There were three consecutive issues that covered the Newtown Square and Cardington Branches that were published in the 1990's. I don't have them handy to give you the volume, issue # and date. There was also a reprint that combined all three issues.

All four are OUT OF PRINT unfortunately so eBay may be the only way to find a copy unless the Phila Chapter decides to offer back issues of the High Line on CD like the national chapter has done with their magazine, "The Keystone", (hint, hint).

There was also some photos for sale on eBay last week. Some searching may get you to the links.

Good luck!

About 1938, a streamlined K-4 steam locomotive and passenger train was displayed on the team track at Garret Road. Also in the late 1930s, there were a few "Off The Beaten Path" excursions, some even had dinning cars!

The photo in the 2nd link of the above post is of the Media-Elwyn Line{Phila & West Chester RR} crossing Crum Creek by Swarthmore College The steel trestle replaced a wooden trestle built on the original stone supports.. A 3rd structure, all steel, was built in the 20th century ,, The old stone columns still stand under the bridge.
