Metrolink's Board of Directors has authorized the purchase of EPA Tier 4 locomotives from Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD), which it says will reduce locomotive emissions by 86%.
The contract includes a base order of 10 locomotives, plus an option to purchase up to 10 additional locomotives. Metrolink has allocated $129.4 million for the purchase of the locomotives.

Just confirming that it is in fact the F125. The releases don't confirm the type.

Most non-rail oriented sites aren't keen on the locomotive model number when reporting orders.

To be compliant,(Tier-4) EMD went with a CAT (C-175 series) engine design instead of the 710 prime mover,
not sure if the HEP is seperate or off the crankshaft(a la F-40ph). What will CARB require to make them happy??

CARB= Ca Air Resource Board,the biggest thorn to automakers and industries in Ca!! :(

I sure hope the finished product gets rid of that ridiculous skirting lol. That being said the overall design doesn't look half bad. The revised rendering is much improved over the prior rendering.

They're working on it. AFAIK they're also pretty close to achieving Tier 4 compliance with the 710.
