At least it is still wearing yellow and black ;-)

Nice to see the old warrior in new paint.

Thanks for sharing, great pics. Any word if LAL is eyeing the Apache Alcos after the shutdown?

^The latest I heard is that the Apache is not shutting down.

I think the LA&L/WNY&P have all the Alcos they need.

There was a news item on the Trains Magazine website stating to the effect that the Apache RR was going to continue operations on a reduced scale.

Hi
I photographed the 3006 at Lakeville in June, where it was sitting out the back looking a little neglected. There were large patches of primer, both grey and red oxide, and even a piece of plywood over part of the central air intake on the engineer's side. I suspect the paint had been on there for a while. It was the second time I'd seen the 3006, the first being outside the engine house in Binghamton in August 1985, it was also the day I met Sandy Burton for the first time. Should have visited more often.

For a photo, check out the 50 Alcos in 3 days thread on this forum. Link to video:

The 3006 is being worked on as time permits at the Lakeville shop. This is according to Carl Belke who spoke at the "Friends Of the Alco Locomotive" Dinner this past Saturday 4/13,2013
When the locomotive is repainted and ready for service, it will be assigned in Olean with the the other ALCO C430's.

Hey Fredrick, this is an engine now owned by the Western New York & Pennsylvania railroad now as engine #430. I'm
not sure if you meant if it's still in service on the WNY&P or not, but it's no longer a NYSW locomotive. Here's a pic of it
taken by Nate Clark back in 2006.
