This week the floating-beam catenary above tracks 1 and 2 was removed entirely through Bridgeport station. 4 is already CT, I assume 3 will be removed from service once at least one other track is finished and CP 255 is available for use.

UPDATE: New Haven Line – Delays

New Haven Line Service continues to experience delays of 10 to 15 minutes due to wire damage in the vicinity of Greenwich. Please listen for announcements at your station.
Hasn't the catenary already been upgraded in Greenwich? It seems like the CT sections of the catenary experience more incidents than the old sections.

All overhead wire from Pelham to South Norwalk and from CP 261 (Devon) to New Haven (Division Post) has been changed to the new constant tension system. Wire problems still can still happen in these areas if trees fall into the wire.

The wire problem at Greenwich last tuesday was a tree that fell in feeder wires above the Catenary. it happened just east of Port Chester Curve.
Also despite the M-8 having preventive features on pantographs its no guarantee that they will not pull down wire at some point.

How soon until traffic is moved over to tracks 2 & 4? The temporary platform is almost ready for use at Southport on track 1 (missing the lights, though) while Fairfield's temporary platform is still partly on both tracks 2 & 1. Also, how long will the temporary platform be at Fairfield Metro?

Is the new catenary that Metro-North is putting in capable of going to 25 kV, to match Amtrak's New Haven-to-Boston catenary?

The insulators look as big as the ones on the Amtrak segment, which made me wonder if going up to 25 kV might be something they're working towards.

Modern hardware isn't the problem. NJT did its phase change by simply unplugging 12.5kV/25Hz and plugging in 25kV/60Hz using the same exact overhead. What they're using for the upgrades can almost certainly handle it. It's the clearances under bridges that are a P.I.T.A. with 25kV because the gaps under structures have to be wider for the higher voltage. And MNRR doesn't want to mess with that much infrastructure and the diminishing returns on cost that would entail.

The overhead catenary wire has been replaced on all tracks in Connecticut from State Line (NY/CT) to CP 241 (South Norwalk), CP 248 (Southport) to CP 255 (Bridgeport) and CP 261 (Devon) to Division Post (MN/Amtrak) at MP 72.9.

As of last weekend, tracks 3 & 1 are now OOS between CP 248 & CP 255, so the temporary platforms with the "banana wood lights" are in use at Southport, Fairfield, and Fairfield Metro for the track 3 platforms.
