The bridge is being replaced. Should be ready for the rail trail by July. Depot is still there used by the city some. Soon you can bike from St J to Walden along the LVRT. Next phase is Swanton to Sheldon (so I've heard).

No its not rail but at least the ROW is being preserved and used.

Location where the LVRC bridge was removed over Rt 15 in the late 90s:

Not to be a pain but

The bridge over 2B was finished last year. Not a rail but a bike/snowmobile bridge They should be opening the trail up in the next couple of months from St J to Walden or at least Joes Pond.

The LVRC goes under Trestle road. The road bridge is still in use. Some bad washouts in the cut but still in good shape.

Not sure about the former bridge over 15. The rail trail does not go that far. And that was long before I moved to the area.

^The Google Maps pics are old so that's great the bridge over 2B is almost done.

The LVRC does go over Trestle Road. The Google Maps car is driving on Trestle Road. Here's the view from the other side of the bridge:

Look at those old abutments!

When the Rt 15 bridge was removed, it doomed the return of service over the line. The bridge was removed due to a bad curve on the road and I think there was a bad accident at that location.

Maybe different bridge than I'm thinking off, will check next time I'm over in St J.

Not sure what happened first. The bridge over 15 or the floods and washouts in Walcott.

The station is St J is getting a major face lift. No sure whats going on. New addition (kinda looks funny), roof work, and other general repair.

The washouts were in 1995.

The Rt 15 bridge was removed in 1997.

Vast (snowmobile club) got received their act 250 permit a couple of weeks ago. Looks like the phase I will be from St J to Joes Pond and Highgate to Sheldon Corners. Not a train but at least the ROW gets some use. I live on the Missisquoi trail and will be able to use the LVRT as soon as it reaches Sheldon.

The stretch from St J to the NH border is looking bad. Lots of trees and washouts. Baring some miracle it will never see a train again.

^Yes, it's not looking good east of St. J.

The VRS was interested in re-opening the line at one time, but nothing happened.

The line was brushcut a few years ago from Whitefield to the paper mill in Gilman, but no freight has moved.

Looks like the Morrisville bypass is going to take out much of the old rail yard in Morrisville.

There is a map included in this new story from the Stowe Reporter from 3/31/11.

Fair use quote: "The proposed Morristown Bypass project has had no outright critics, but there are plenty of concerns."

If you "save" the map, you can enlarge to a certain extent...
