This line from the "Emigrant Conductor" section is interesting. "7.--They shall collect the ticket or the fare from each Passenger in their Train, and report the same to the General Ticket Agent, in manner and form prescribed. Should any Passenger refuse to pay his hare, they shall put him off at a public road crossing, or at the next station, without using unnecessary violence."
