Reaching way back in time, on this date the "New York Express" of the Buffalo and Erie RR derailed the rear 2 coaches on the approach to the high bridge over Big Sister Creek. Both cars fell into the creek bed, and the wood debris was ignited by the on-board stoves used for heating.

Estimated casualties were 50 +/- dead and 100 +'- injured.

Accident was referred to as the Angola Horror.
