Here pictured is a New York Central Railroad RS-3 (early 1960’s) on the Pennsylvania’s Passaic & Harsimus Cove Line. Where did the NYC connect with this line and what was the purpose for this connection? The third rails to the right provided power to the adjacent Hudson & Manhattan (PATH).

Interchange run from N.Bergan yard or Weehawken to Meadows Yard via New Jersey Jct(West Shore/NYC/Erie Joint) trackage or
via Northern New Jersey(Erie) trackage.
NYC,PRR,Erie,CNJ,and NYSW,crossed each other reaching the carfloat docks and port Warehouses

Looks like it's on the passenger line, doesn't it? Maybe there wasn't a direct connection NY Central to the Harsimus Cove freight line.

After looking at map NJ-7(pg 24) in the Northeast volume of SPV's Comprehensive Railroad Atlas,
the most direct route was on Erie(NNJ)trackage to Marion Jct from N Bergan yard NYC(WS).
This is now CASO trackage,PATH's ROW splits Meadows yard in the middle.
The former NJJ trackage is now part of NJT's light rail ops.
PRR reached the "Cove" from Waldo yard,ROW was abandoned, but unsure when.
