I have a 1988 stamp from Cuba based on an 1888 lithograph of a `Night scene on the New York Central Railroad', with a NYC 4-4-0 no, 884 (??) named `Fargo' hauling an American Express special express train'. Can anyone confirm the identity of this locomotive or give further information about it? Regards and thanks. Richard West

If you can find a copy of "Steam Locomotives of the New York Central Lines, Volumes 1 and 2 by William D. Edson and H. L. Vail, Jr." It lists all historic locos including the 4-4-0's

The name "Fargo" seems to me to be more a NP name possibility that NYC...but who knows.
