Sorry I don't know how to post/link video's from youtube. But this shows an sw1500 pulling a passenger car at night and there are lights on in the car. How is this possible since sw's have no hep?

Watch this, please:

It only show the emergency lights, (a few fluorecents powered of batteries.
Each car has a 64 volt battery for control/doors/marker lights etc.

IIRC, the MP15AC's built for the Long Island railroad did have HEP capability so they could act as reserve power for commuter trains in addition to their regular duties of handling local freights and work trains...

The Long Island MP14ACs could only provide HEP OR traction power. They could not do both. This is what my uncle, who is a retired LIRR engineer told me.

The LIRR MP15ac units deliverd 600 volt DC via a single phase plug to old demotored MU's, hardly a form of HEP.
yes the LIRR MP15ac units modified to dfeliver such power to cars could only deliver to cars or to traction, not both.
The Power units were marked with a P.
