I am looking for drawings and/or photographs of American Hoist & Derrick Co's American Eagle model crane. The crane I am seeking information about was used by the Chesapeake Western Railway, it came used from the Norfolk & Western Ry (#13021), and the NWHS has found a 1946 company photo of the crane. In 1946, the crane in the Roanoke Material yard is showing some wear. They may have more information in their archives, but it is buried and has not been found (to date). The Minnesota Historical Society has a 1931 catalog for the American Eagle, but the photos show a much older unit than the N&W/CW had. The JMU/CWRy archive lists the crane as Serial No. AE-125, Model 127. I am scouring the country, contacting libraries and rail historical societies, looking for more information. Certainly the N&W wasn't the only railroad that purchased this 7 1/2 ton, 2 axle, gas or diesel powered, MOW crane. Can anyone suggest where I should be looking, who I should be contacting?
