Can anyone explain to me where the Erie depot stood in Galion and on what side of the tracks ? Looking at old photos and postcards I can't get any perspective at all.

When did the structure come down ?

The station at Galion was on the west side of the tracks at South Market and West Railroad Street. Unfortunately, the beautiful station at Galion was demolished in the fall of 1970. (It wasn't in the greatest condition sadly at the time.)

Thanks for the info. So looking at mapping it was on the north side of the tracks ?

Is the current alignment through there on the Big 4 the same or changed since the end of EL days ?

Did EL / Erie trains stopped for the staion block the diamond or foul the interlocking plant ?

Where was BURT Tower ?

C. Jack:

Station was on the North Side of the ERIE.

Current alignment is the same. The original Big Four alignment to go west is visible on the aerial shots. IIRC, the realignment was c. 1920's.

A long-enough train stopping at the ERIE station would have the interlocking locked up.

BURT tower was in the SE quadrant of the ERIE / Big Four Columbus Line xg.
