This past week I had a chance to recon the Dayton Branch, or more factually what is left of it. Although I never had much interest in the past it must have been a rather interesting operation. Upon visiting Peoria I noted to the north of the crossing about 600 yards up was a chain link fence with the rail running into it. Looking at google earth maps this morning from 2010 it appears this section was abandoned with only a few sections of rail and plenty of brush. Not what I saw looking like reasonably good railroad. So the question is what is going on there and when was this short section of track restored ?
