DLW location help

Just catching up on a few old slides - can anyone ID this location? It's DL&W mainline, somewhere between Elmira and Delaware water gap. Slide was unlabeled, taken by my grandfather in the 60s - post merger, so it shows single-tracking, but I haven't figured out exactly where.

To me, the location looks like the easterly view from the east portal of B&M's Hoosac Tunnel. That would be the remains of a catenary support on the left and the Deerfield River trestle dead ahead.

Remarkably similar looking locations...........the only thing I find curious is the lack of a pole-line in
the older photo. I would have thought the NEWER photo would not have had a pole line!

Another thing I should add: If this was on the Erie Lackawanna, this would be on former Erie Railroad trackage
as DLW didn't use the type of signals shown in the photo provided.

You're right. No wonder I couldn't place it on DL&W. The signals were a bit of confusion. The slide was in with a series of pics around Wilawana, PA around the time track was being 'rationalized', so I assumed he had been somewhere further east looking at his old territory. This one is definitely DL&W - Wilawana section house in the early '30s when he worked there. Thanks for the help.

Good catch placing the location on the ex-Erie rather than DL&W main based on the signals. Sure looks like the Barton / Smithboro area of Tioga County, NY (there is a similar view driving eastbound through Barton along NY 17C), although so much of the Southern Tier looks so similar that it would be difficult to identify the location with complete accuracy. If anyone can spot any details about the crossing or the signals, that would be helpful.
