Apparently CSX sold off a large number of their standard cab Dash 8-40C locos. Expect to see some of these going to new homes in the near future. A few of them are allegedly at LTEX being prepped for a new owner or lessee.

Just to follow up, 20 of them went to Pan Am earlier this year. Pan Am is now in the process of acquiring a few additional ex-CSX Dash 8-40Cs, as well as a small batch of ex-CSX/ex-NYSW Dash 8-40Bs.

The TTI has suffered a major washout and will not be repaired. A very reliable source reports that CSX has already sold the boat they used on the Ohio River to move coal, and all the TTI units are for immediate sale. Most likely the entire line will be pulled up within a year. The former L&N roundhouse and turntable at Paris will also be razed before long.

If that's true, it's a shame.

The Pentrex video "U-Boat Survivors" has a lot of very nice TTI footage. I often daydreamed about someday visiting and seeing TTI in action.

Does anyone know of a current/up-to-date TTI locomotive roster? This one was last updated five years ago and appears to be quite outdated at this point. There's also a roster on Wikipedia but it's an all-time roster, not a current roster.

Here's a video from 2015 showcasing a TTI train pulled by a quartet of clean B36-7s. The video caption states that TTI rosters (or rostered) five active B36-7s, one active U28B, and several other units that are (or were) out of service:

There was a huge amount of GE B-B power stored at BNSF Murray Yard, North Kansas City, a year ago. It's someplace else, now.

GE is ramping up their focus on pre-owned Dash 8 sales:
