When the PLMT coal trains arrived from the west, did they yard the trains at East Deerfield and then head south via the loop when needed, or did they switch over to the Conn River at Greenfield and either go direct to the plant or get stored somewhere along the Conn River line?

Normally, unless there were extenuating circumstances, unit Mt. Tom trains headed south at Greenfield. If the plant wasn't ready to be spotted, the trains would stage on the Runner (former 105) between CPF-385 (Greenfield East) & CPR-35 (Deerfield Jct.), or on the Siding between CPR-18 (Northampton) & CPR-16 (Northampton South), or lastly, on the Old Northbound (Capacity 90 cars) at Mt.Tom. The plant held 68 cars, 30 on 1, 20 on 2, and 18 on 3, with the balance on the Old Northbound Stub south of the switch into the plant.
