I read an article stating that the Miami Metrorail was orignally supposed to be 50 miles big....but only 27 miles was built....where was the Metrorail originally supposed to go??

Also are there any planned expansion projects....such as to FIU or North Miami/Aventura??

There is all sorts of talk but here in South Florida talk is cheap and I do
not know just what is planned or will actually happen if they ever find a
way to finance expansion.
We are a fast growing area and have lots of ways to spend available funds
and I just can't imagine the current traffic problems in another few years
if they continue to just study and talk and do nothing more.
We are still not getting full value or use out of what we have, bus service
generally stinks, Tri-Rail does not have any late night service and the
Metro-Rail system in Miami shuts down at midnight. What is needed is
much more bus service everywhere, better connections between buses
and buses and rail, more frequent Metro-Rail service and they badly need
to get Tri-Rail completely free and clear of CSX before CSX drags it
down any more than they already have.
I-95 has six lanes in each direction in places and I don't see how they
can continue to plug that. The other interstates and expressways are
probably just as cluttered during rush hours too.
What does the future hold? I really don't know.

I would agree with that thought. Miami-Dade claims, however, that they are soon making a 27th avenue extension. Miami is outdated in traffic patterns and FDOT is willing to redo the 826 at the 836. Those extensions that Bay Head Local mentioned are possible, but unfortunately haven't started and won't for quite a few years.

Yea, I started school down in Miami back in September and the Public Transit compares to up here (NY/NJ Area) is horrible...what is the problem with the buses??....why can't they just buy more??.....I used to think the NYCTA was the worst in terms of getting projects done....but I think it has met its match..lol

soo I guess this means that my dreams of one day seeing a full Metrorail System in Miami...is dead...offically :( ...besides the Spur to MIC...i guess there well never be a line to Aventura, South Beach, FIU...or anywhere else :(
