The topic of SEPTA's non-electrified lines often comes up, and the fact that areas left without train service had to turn to bus services, or a lengthly drive to the
nearest SEPTA station.

Beiber Bus Lines was one company that provided service to many of these areas, and it suspended operations on Friday 2/8.

Wow, it's an understatement to say that's bad news. I lived in the Lehigh Valley for 3 years and remember Bieber as an important provider in that area. Their collapse is sadly reminiscent of the demise of the Liberty Bell Line almost 70 years ago, which happened so abruptly that people were left stranded at stations.

Their failure is also yet another counterexample to the constant bleat from the litmus-test types who claim that private transit would be "better and cheaper".

For now, Trans-Bridge has limited service between Bethlehem and Doylestown, where Lehigh Valley passengers can connect to Center City. It's a lengthy ride though. For example, from Quakertown, T-B bus at 5:22 am, change to 6:03 or 6:30 train at Doylestown, Center City by 8. Several weekend trips too.
